Start with natural speech
Open your recording in the editor, then Editing workspace, Audio and the silence tool. Start with Natural speech and choose Find pauses. Detection examines the source and proposes ranges. Nothing is selected for removal automatically.
Use a recording with clear spoken passages for your first pass. Music or constant background noise can prevent a quiet gap from being detected. An empty result does not mean the speaker never paused.
Listen before selecting a cut
Play each proposed pause with the speech around it. Listen for a quiet final syllable, a breath that belongs to the sentence, or a deliberate pause before an important point. Select Remove this pause only for gaps you want to shorten.
Do not remove every suggestion just because it is available. A tutorial needs reading time, and a conversation needs room for a listener to understand a change of speaker.
Change one detection control at a time
If suggestions include quiet speech, open Advanced detection settings and lower the sound threshold. A higher threshold classifies more quiet sounds as silence. Increase the minimum pause duration to ignore short gaps, and keep breathing room around speech to protect word boundaries.
Run Find pauses again after changing detection settings. Compare the new suggestions with the same passage so you can tell which adjustment helped.
Check the joins after applying
Apply the pauses you selected, then play across every new join in the editor. Watch the picture as well as listening to the voice. A harmless audio cut may still make a hand movement jump. Undo or adjust a cut that changes the meaning or rhythm.
Export a short sample and check it in another player before processing a long recording. Keep the original source for later revisions.
