Keep range

Set Start and End to choose the part you will export. A new file starts with its full duration selected. Drag the playhead to inspect a frame, or use the playback slider.

Times look like 02:46.04: two minutes, 46 seconds and four hundredths. Longer clips also show hours.

Cut out a moment

Choose Cut out to add a removable interval around the playhead. Drag the interval or its edges on the timeline. Export joins the kept pieces and retimes audio and subtitles.

Removing the entire keep range is rejected.

Effect timing

Select an effect clip to inspect it. Drag to move it, resize its ends or enter exact Start and End values. Soft snap assists nearby boundaries. Timeline zoom changes the view, not the exported video.

Example: keep the middle, remove a pause

For a 30-second clip, set the keep range to 5–25 seconds. Add a cut-out from 12–14 seconds. The normal-speed export keeps 5–12 and 14–25, for 18 seconds total. Timeline source times still refer to the original recording.

Speed changes can shorten or lengthen the result further.

Precision without changing output scale

Zoom the timeline when a short effect is hard to grab. Use numeric Start and End for exact times, then play across both boundaries. Soft snap helps align nearby edges but can be turned off for independent positioning.

Timeline zoom and snapping do not change output resolution; use Canvas for image dimensions.
